Rain had just passed through Shibuya when Kenji set up above the crossing. At two in the morning the scramble belongs to almost no one — a single taxi pulling away, its taillights drawing long red threads across the wet asphalt while the neon keeps burning for an audience that has gone home. He waited through eleven light cycles for this frame: the city lit up, and nearly empty.
